Use the cardholder authentication settings page to indicate whether or not you participate in the programs Verified by Visa (VbV) or MasterCardĀ® SecureCodeā¢. VbV and SecureCode are security programs created by the card associations to provide identity authentication for Visa and MasterCard cardholders, and transaction protection for merchants. The payment gateway supports the transmission of authentication fields for all merchants enrolled in these authentication programs.

If cardholder authentication information is submitted for transactions processed through any other processor, it will be ignored.
Note: If you do not indicate participation in any of these cardholder authentication programs, and if you include authentication fields in your transactions, they will generate an error and will not be processed.
If you do indicate participation in either VbV or SecureCode and do not include authentication fields in your transactions, no errors will be generated.
Transmitting cardholder authentication codes from your website requires the expertise of a Web developer. Your Web developer can assist you with using the Advanced Integration Method (AIM) in submitting credit card transactions for authorization and settlement to the Authorize.Net Payment Gateway. Please consult your Web developer for more information.
If you need help finding a developer to integrate the cardholder authentication process, we recommend contacting an Authorize.Net Certified Developer.
